This new bird is doing a free session at Rough Trade in Covent Garden on Wednesday 15th Dec at 6pm. I'll be hopefully going as it'll be a nice free gig!

Heard good stuff about KT Tunstall. I'm quite interested in going to the Rough trade session but I think I will have to be at my stupid job Christmas party that evening but I can't be arsed.

sorry only just saw your message steve. shame you were ill - that always happens, hols comin up so your body lets you down... so kt tunstall - she was great. it was a solo set but she had that recording device so banged her guiter, played human trumpet, and shook a tambourine to her heart's delight. got my album signed, gave her carina as a recomendation and then she said that she already knew her and has in fact played a few gigs with her! seeing her next month which has now sold out but she's playin in march so y'all should try and see her.

Are you going to the ICA gigs, Daisy? I'm not (since it is, as you pointed out, sold out!) but I am hopefuly going to see KT at the Scala! Bit random since I haven't even really heard the music yet! I did order 'Eye To The Telescope' the other day so I suppose I'll soon find out if I like it! Interesting that KT has played gigs with Carina!! Get on the case JCE ;D

Steve - Daisy answered this one - she was on the bill at the Secret Garden gig in the Summer - which i've checked and indeed she was - on the same day (Sat) although i didnt see her :-(
The other was that she was on the bill of one of the 2001 Roadworks Tour gigs - Glasgow 13/10/01
So - not "actually" played with her but been on the same bill - twice

Hi I came across Carina Round after she was mentioned on KT Tunstall's own fan forum ( www.suddenlyisee.co.uk ). I loved Carina's first album, and am looking forward to getting the second. KT Tunstall is fab too - though they are obviously quite different artists. KT's album is a lot more accessible - quite a polish has been put on it by the record company, who obviously see her as a prospect for a Dido/Katie Melua/Norah Jones challenger. KT has a LOT more to her than that (as anyone who has seen her live will attest) - and I am pretty sure her next record will see her driving more down a PJ Harvey/Patti Smith kind of road. Anyway - do check her out - her album is a really good listen (get it soon, while it still includes the live bonus track of her now "legendary" show-stealing performance on the Jools Holland Later show). And she is touring in Feb/March. She's amazing live.

Hi Paddy, welcome to the forum I've listened to KT's album now and I agree with you that it is a little too polished. Still very good but she definitely has the potential to make a great blues/rock/modern folk type record with a much more raw feel to it. A PJ Harvey/Patti Smith type route would be very good ;D Two of my fave artists so... KT's performance on Jools was indeed special. Have a top notch MPEG video of that if you don't already? I'll be at the Scala then! Suppose no chance of any ICA tickets floating about anywhere??

Oh btw Paddy... I went and had a browse on www.suddenlyisee.co.uk and saw your photos from the Rough Trade session. I'm putting a direct link to that thread here (if you don't mind?) as I think Daisy (who was there) and some others might like to see them... pix from Rough Trade appearance[/u][/url]

Lovely - glad some others are curious to see them. I am going to put up a series of frame grabs from KT's Jool Holland appearance too in the next few days, Gives a great impression of her style, for those who weren't lucky enough to catch it when it went out.
Also - I'd *really* love that mpeg - I have the show on my Tivo (video hard disk recorder thing) but it'll have to be deleted at some point, sadly, and I don't have the technology to get it out of there onto a CD or anything.
I've got tix for the ICA but none spare, I'm afraid. I want to go to the Scala show too, if I can negotiate it with my gf (she might think it's a bit wierd to want to see two shows by the same artist in 2 weeks, but I'm a fan, goddammit, and true talent only comes along once in a while!).

Well - thanks!!! - have sent that mail. If anyone is interested, KT has a new single coming out, and you can hear it, and *see the video* on her redesigned (still under slight reconstruction at time of writing) website www.kttunstall.com/Click on the "albums" link and then you'll see a link for the video (and sound clips for other tracks too). As predicted, there has been a slight toughening up of her image to distance her from drippy Dido/Norah Jones types!

If anyone's interested, KT has a great little acoustic session on a BBC website, with 3 live acoustic videos, 2 interview slots and the Black Horse In The Cherry Tree video. www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A3613763 Well worth a look. Also, if you browse around, you might find her session on Janice Long's Radio 2 show (though they seem to be taking forever to put it up on the site). And Steve - I WILL get you that mpeg!
