Of course! Thanks Carly, it sounds like I'm just missing that gig experience. Must remedy that situation then.
There's certain artists who really do bring out the best in a crowd. You can almost body-surf the waves of affection emanating from the audience at a PJ Harvey gig (amid random shouts of "We love you Polly!"), and without a doubt that's the sort of reaction we can come to expect from a Carina gig once her fanbase reaches a critical mass and she starts filling out bigger venues. At the moment it's more personal, and people come up to her after the gig to thank her individually, like Lou Reed, Robert Plant, Jack Nicholson etc. She can certainly command an audience - I was dead impressed by the last gig I saw in Oxford, rapt attention from even the bods at the back, no-one jabbering away annoyingly. A wonder to behold.
I imagine Tori Amos inspires a similar devotion; I've only ever heard people say nice things about her. I'll run through those albums one more time then...

And BFP is my favorite album of hers, so I share your fondness for it. But do give the others another chance/listen, too. And Carly's right...(lol, Carly is one of my best friends.. I got her into Carina's music... and she'll just love seeing me say that she's right) experiencing Tori in concert will grab you and make you hooked if you aren't already. You can also check out her latest dvd release, called Welcome To Sunny Florida. It's a live performance show on dvd. Verrrry good.

Thanks for the top tips Mary and Carly! I came to Tori a bit late anyway - despite being struck by the promos for Cornflake Girl (who looks like that first thing in the morning?), I wasn't won over until the van Helden remix of Professional Widow. Which my confused solitary neuron heard as "scabby pig" instead of "it's gotta be big". Though either phrase works.
Re: Boys for Pele... Now how do I get over my piglet envy?
