Saw Nick Harper(son of Roy) by accident, CR was supporting him and I went to see her. Nick Harper is thanked on the First Blood Mystery album and if you havn't heard him you should, anyone who can sing zappas titties and beer, Pythons the universe song and Elvis guitar man in the same gig is worth a listen. His own stuff is shit hot as well.
He is not only talented, if he breaks a string(even a low E) he replaces it, tunes up and continues to sing at the same time, but also he is very funny he commented to the Robin crowd that there would have been a bigger attendence that night if a tribute to Nick Harper had played.
Again like many others he is a nugget, if you get chance to see him I guarentee a good night. He may even do a chuck berry on the bar!!!

Nick Harper is appearing at the Robin 2 in Bilston on the 15th November. May not be to everyones taste, but if you like virtuoso guitarist and good songs its worthwhile going.
£10 on the door, if you don't enjoy it I'll be surprised, give it a go if you have a chance.

I love Nick Harper!!!what a man....nice man and supremely talented... Let the world know how good Nick Harper is!!! I know you were at the Robin 2 when Carina supported Nick Harper, for JCEs records do you know the date?? It was about a year after she supported Miles Hunt at Ronnie Scotts but before she supported Coldplay at the same venue.

I'll be seeing Nick Harper at the 100 club on the 24th (Nov) so I'll let you know what I think! I am actually specifically going to see the support act, Martha Tilston. I haver never heard Nick's stuff but I see lots of favourable comments about (and not just here) so will look forward to it.
Did you like Martha, Kelvyn?

She was good, sadly only caught the last 3 tunes played...Too busy eating curry and drinking I'm afraid, she was a little folky, great voice, and looked good to boot.
I'll be surprised if you dont like Nick, he is something special. I took a few friends to the gig who had never heard of him, they were blown away. He sang a great version of Grace and are you experienced.. pure bliss.. you'll love it, listen out for roomspin and kettledrum heart, and demand he sings 3 magpies

Oops, sorry for the very late response! I don't seem to have hardly any time to post these days. Yeah I thought Nick was good. Clearly an amazing guitarist (did take him about half an hour to set up the effects pedals and whatever techy stuff he had linked up on his iMac though)! I liked the Hendrix/Led Zep/Buckley homage he threw in to his set and his own tunes sounded pretty good from what I remember. At one point during the gig he mentioned that he couldn't wait for Margaret Thatcher to die. Thought that was a bit harsh! ;D Martha was ace, had a little coughing fit on her last song. it's tradition I think
