Anyone like Nick Drake?
Dead yes, soundtrack to Heartbeat occasionally, but nevertheless very good.
My Favourite Nick Drake is the Pink Moon and he also plays my favourite depressing song Black Eyed Dog.

Yeah. Don't know a huge amount of his songs but I really like 'Bryter Layter'. Been meanng to check out Pink Moon. What else do you recommend? Is that posthumously released stuff that came out recently any good? Slightly perturbed about the Heatbeat soundtrack thing

Sorry, not a fan. I did buy one of his albums once and really wanted to get into it--------but just couldn't. He is buried just down the road from me(well about 10 miles down the road)in Tanworth-in-Arden and people still come from all over the world to visit his grave.

Try Five leaves left.
Particularly good tracks are River Man, Cello Song and Way to Blue.
I havn't bought the new CD butI've heard its good, a number of previously unheard, unorchestrated tracks, most of which I have on bootleg.

For years I actively avoided buying Nick Drake music 'cos I thought it would be too depressing. What a fool I was.
Any original album at random is a good place to start - there's no filler, so you won't do yourself any favours by just buying a compilation CD.
We have the legendary producer Joe Boyd (debut Pink Floyd, Love etc) to thank for the Nick Drake canon, as when he sold his record label he did so on the condition that all Nick Drake's albums are never deleted. Chap!
Small aside: I found out where the phrase Five Leaves Left comes from recently. It's the message on the running-out slip in a pack of Zig-Zag cigarrette papers, telling you you've got 5 rollies to go before the pack is empty. Some sort of deep metaphor going on there perhaps?
