Someone recently asked about Same Girlfriend and was looking for a copy of it
WELL
If you have the CD Slow Motion Addict you already have it.
Play track 1 then rewind and it'll rewind past the beginning of SMA to the hidden track of Same Girlfriend ;D

How did you find out about that? It makes me wonder how many other albums in my collection have a hidden track at the start of the CD . The only one I know of at the moment is Open Season by British Sea Power.

Are there different versions of the CD? I dont think there are different versions of the official release - just the US version. Catalogue number B0006135-02 There was however a promo version put out some time ago with a different cover and Same Girlfriend listed as Track 13. Catalogue number INTF-11742-2. On the official release Same Girlfriend is the hidden track before Track 1 The other difference i can see is that the offical has "Down Slow" whereas the promo has "DOWNSLOW" - no gap between the words?

I don't think you can access the hidden track using your PC media players, e.g. Winamp or Windows Media Player. You have to use a conventional CD player and once track 1 starts playing, keep your finger pressed on the rewind/back button and your player will rewind through the extra track. Stop when the counter gets to about minus 3 mins 30 seconds, and the track will play. If you go too far back, the player will go back to track 1, i.e. Stolen Car. The same process is used for British Sea Power's Open Season. From now on, every time I play a CD, I'm going to do that in case I've been missing something all this time. On a more general note, why do artists do this (and put "easter eggs" on DVDs) if most people never find out about them?

On a more general note, why do artists do this (and put "easter eggs" on DVDs) if most people never find out about them? in this case its cause Carina didnt want the track on the CD but the record company did - so the compromise was making it a hidden track As for other artists I'm sure there is an element of the same - plus it generates web talk about the CD/DVD!!! All a marketing ploy - and technies getting their kicks

Well jce and Manta, I don't know if you're magicians or something! I have both of the CDs you mention, and I can't find an extra track anywhere?!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D well on the promo/advance CD, its track 13 and that isnt hidden so no idea why you cant find that one. Does your CD have 13 tracks? As for the official CD you do need a proper CD player to make it work - PC software cant do it as Manta said. Or maybe you just have some rare copies of the album

Same here Sid! My daughter and I tried for ages on a conventional CD player, neither of us could achieve it on either CD!!

Same here Sid! My daughter and I tried for ages on a conventional CD player, neither of us could achieve it on either CD!! How strange . I've tried it on a music centre type CD player and a portable CD player (the ghetto blaster type) and I can access the hidden track on both. Is there more than one version of the CD available in this country? The catalogue number on mine is B0006135-02. I'm pretty sure all of the Open Season CDs have the hidden track. Have you got another CD player you can try it on?

Yes mine is the same number as the two above on SLM, and I don't have a special edition, and only 12 tracks. I'll try it on another CD player, perhaps mine won't play it for some reason! Open Season won't play the extra track either, my son has a copy of that CD, so I'll ask him to try it on his.

I've found it and it's really good. Can't see why it isn't more obvious.

Yeah, it's worthy of a proper place on the album.
