Well - hometown gig for C ;D and a headline show on the tour with Damien Dempsey Setlist - Shoot, Motel 74, Into My Blood, Lacuna, Paris, Hookah, Elegy, Let it Fall with an encore of Monument. The planned setlist included "Like A Hurricane" as the first track of the encore - but it wasnt played? I think that Damien went on for rather more than he should - i know who i preferred on stage. Great show with some lovely versions of the tracks although there seemed to be a lot of things on stage not working - mics moving, drums moving and other assorted problems. Very little talking from C which is rather unusal - although an audience request to "get em out" was declined on the basis that it "took long enough to get em in" The gig WAS filmed for the band - with three cameras - maybe that might see the light of day - lets hope so In Let It Fall Carina sang a bit of Rosie as well as the usual Pixies bit - me thinks this was in tribute to someone in the audience - as audience members included Miles Hunt and Robert Plant - yes as in Led Zep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He even sang "Hey Hey Momma" to Carinas mom after the show :-)

oh yes yes yes...she is the best. got to interview her before the gig which was grand. i'll post it up on here once i've written it - transcribing it took long enuf but it should be up by wednesday... the gig was as great as ever, but things always piss up for her - microphone turned round but that looked quite good...tuning went wrong a couple of times...bit of sound trouble...but all in all she has to be my fave artist and does the best performance i've ever seen. Best news is that she's playing glastonbury! Daisy x

Amazing as always!
Yeah, shame about the technical probs though to be honest it barely bothered me. I can completely understand how frustrating it must be if you're up there trying to play, however!
Generally though, I thought it sounded fantastic. It was great to finally hear Hookah live too!
Only complaint I ever have about Carina's gigs is they are not on for long enough!
Excellent photos Steph! If you have more would you mind sending them to me (original size if possible)? I have plenty of webspace now so I can host them for you and eventually put them up in a gallery when I get a bit more time to work on the fansite.

A top evening all round, with Carina and her band on sterling form. Some of my favourite moments come back to me at random...
Carina's Katastrophy Wife T-shirt... Tom's shades 'n' fag T-shirt and Janus mask... Simon poised statuesque over his double bass, waiting for his cue to kick back in... John's flailing drumstick setting the syncopation on "Shoot"... Carina seamlessly slipping in a Led Zep reference during her Pixies routine... Robert Plant becoming an instant convert and singing a tribute to Pammy... And I met Steve, jce John, Pammy and Tom for the first time too - top people, one and all! Looking forward to meeting up again at the next one.
Lovely photos by Steph. They really have captured the essence of the evening.
So who's for Oxford on 6th June?

Plea to soundman: "Can you put some arse in this f***ing guitar?" In peril of his life,he duly obliged pronto.
