I am just wondering what Carina's views are on anyone making non-profit bootleg recordings of her live shows just to share between fans?

she knows i have recordings of some of her gigs, because i sent her them. they're not great quality, though. i remember when chatting to some of the band that they said they record all the gigs themselves. don't know if that's still the case, but they did say they had a copy of the last flapper gig in may 2001, which would be great to hear again...

I should be able to get hold of a dictaphone to record Fridays flapper gig. God knows what the quality will be like though. I've only recorded on borrowed gear, and then the artists in question had given me permission.
How would you guys do the recording?
Other bands like Wheatus actively encourage the fans to make their own bootlegs so that no profit is made by the evil bootleg sellers, but would be interesting to know if Carina has a strong opinion on this.

Is that Sarah? If so hi! Good to see you here! If Carina does not mind us having bootleg recordings of her gigs would you be kind enough to share with me and some of the other members here? Maybe I could set up a trade/b&p (blanks & postage) thread for us help each other with bootlegs?

I have (or at least I have somewhere...) all the necessary gubbins to turn analogue recordings (such as tapes, vinyl) into CDs.
I'll have a look and see if I can get it all working again and if so I can put this flapper gig and (maybe) any past bootlegs onto CD.
NB: If we find out in the meantime that Carina doesn't want this done then I won't do it. Simple as that.

rich, if you can convert recordings, that would be great...
this is sarah, by the way. I didn't record Friday's gig, as I've only ever borrowed the stuff I used to do it before. If someone did, I'd be very happy. The bootlegs I have (only 2 of them) I've only ever really used for my own purposes, as well as to give as birthday presents to friends who were also at the original gigs. I really don't think live stuff should be an issue anyway, because with Carina it's so different from the albums that it's not like one could replace the other anyway and, if it ever came to doing a live album, good quality bootleg recordings might be the only way to get the stuff together for records of early performances...
but yeah, i'm willing to back down on this too...
