So I don't understand why Carina isn't more popular. I think I've twittered about her as much as I can, so I'm looking for bigger and better ideas. Maybe we can get her on the new Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien here in the U.S. Doing a little research, Jim Pitt, he's apparently the one in charge of booking acts on the show: www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid%3A456940I don't know if he reads his facebook e-mail or is innudated with other crazy fans thinking the same thing or if this is a breach of facebook etiquette, but why not? www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Pitt/1104890943Click "Send Jim a Message" and tell him why Carina should appear on the Tonight Show. I sent him a long list of YouTube links with some of her amazing performances. Any other ideas?

Yeah I cant figure out why she's not more popular, but then alot of the great artists these days are not well known (Greg Dulli, Mark Lanegan, Jeff Klien)......

Maybe we can get her on the new Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien here in the U.S. Carina told me she's never been on TV. That's just so hard to imagine. I see so many musicians on TV that don't even compare to her. In my area (Ohio/Michigan), there aren't any entertainment type TV shows but I was telling Carina that there are a variety of radio stations (notably in Detroit and Cleveland) where her music would fit right in and that she's so much better than most of the generic stuff I hear on them. She told me, "call them up and request it. Get people to hear it". Maybe that's what us US fans need to do. Regretably, I must admit I've yet to do it. But Maybe that would get her to play in my area. I gather the only airplay she gets is in LA with the occasional airing in the UK. Sure, she does some webcasts now and then but those aren't the mass exposure she needs. A popular Detroit 'alternative' station has always given the Smashing Pumpkins a LOT of airplay. I was hoping her recent association with Billy Corgan and the amount of stuff I've read about it around the web might draw that station's notice to her. But no luck so far. Some TV exposure would surely do her good. US shows like Tonight Show, Letterman, Kimmel, etc. always feature 'new' artists. The UK seems to have good music-oriented shows but they seem to ignore the home-turf girl. How have they all overlooked her? She's a critics' darling. Where is her airplay? Maybe prismlite is right. If we band together and provide her some promotion, someone might take notice.

She's been on tv in the UK! I thought so. But, this past June in NYC, discussing media exposure, I asked her specifically "Have you ever been on TV?" and she said definitively "No". I was referring to anywhere but, perhaps she assumed I was referring just to the US. However, was her appearance on UK TV for something like a report or special about a festival or something or was she actually an individual guest. Did that make sence?

Carina was on ITV many many years ago, late night telly on ITV, I think the presenter was the british/brummie rapstar Apache Indian, you remember him don't you? The show was about local midlands talent.
From memory she sang a track from first blood mystery, ribbons (i think). I recorded it at the time but annoyingly lost the tape during a house move a few years ago.
At the time I don't think she was interviewed as such, just sang the song.
I think there is a reference to the show somewhere on this site, I made the same comments before.

Carina was a named guest and perfomed The Waves with Smudge and another woman (i forget who now). There was a short one on one interview with her mostly looking like a rabbit in the headlights. I have a copy of it on DVD. As far as i know thats been the only full TV appearance so no idea why she doesnt remember it or maybe shes in denial about it! It wasnt the best debut Also i'm absolutely sure that she was featured on one of the local brummie news channels when she performed at a festival in the beginning at one of her very first shows - and there was also some benefit concert that got some air time with her performing Never been on TV - pah! ;-) Hope you are all well and still enjoying the music
